The Master of Urban Planning (MUP) program equips students to excel as professionals and leaders in urban planning through comprehensive intellectual training and advanced technical skills. This program also serves as a foundation for pursuing a Ph.D. in planning or securing research-oriented roles. The M.U.P. curriculum includes mandatory core courses, specialized electives, hands-on workshops, an optional internship (which reduces graduation requirements by 4 credit hours), and a culminating capstone project. Designed for adaptability, the program allows students to tailor their studies toward specific focus areas like land use and environmental planning, transportation, social justice in community development, housing, sustainable design, economic development, or geographic information systems. Additionally, the department offers global initiatives that introduce students to planning practices and issues across Europe, Africa, Latin America, and Asia.
