The Master of City and Regional Planning (MCRP) program holds accreditation from the Planning Accreditation Board (PAB) and can be paired with the MS-GIST for STEM certification. This degree equips students to tackle intricate urban planning challenges as skilled practitioners. The coursework provides comprehensive knowledge about urban and regional environments while building essential competencies for modern city planning. The MCRP curriculum maintains equilibrium between theoretical frameworks, historical perspectives, and practical analytical techniques in urban development.
Students can choose from six concentration areas or pursue joint degrees with architecture, civil engineering, law, or public policy.

A hands-on studio course serves as the program's culminating experience, enabling students to integrate their planning expertise through real-world projects involving urban neighborhoods and mid-sized communities. This two-year, 55-credit program consists of seven foundational courses, a specialization track, elective coursework, an internship, and either a thesis or applied research project. Participants may select between a traditional thesis or practical research paper format.

Through specialized coursework and internships, students cultivate expertise in specific planning domains. The program features six focus areas: economic development, environmental health, housing and community revitalization, land use strategy, transportation systems, and urban design principles.
