Students receive personalized guidance from our distinguished faculty, crafting tailored study plans that make meaningful impacts on the dance discipline. The program offers a dynamic setting to pursue research across five key domains: choreographic creation, pedagogy, theoretical frameworks, professional longevity, and somatic practices. Collaborations with University of Illinois—a top-tier research university consistently ranked among the nation's premier public institutions—enrich students' artistic perspectives and academic growth through interdisciplinary projects. Our faculty, comprising active scholars, performers, educators, and choreographers, have recently investigated creative process boundaries, facilitated cross-disciplinary dialogues with environmental researchers, published works on movement methodologies, pioneered tech-integrated performances internationally, and led graduate seminars uniting dance and engineering students. This vibrant intellectual ecosystem empowers students to develop their unique methodologies for dance scholarship.
