The Department of Latin American and Latino Studies aims to equip students with knowledge about the histories, cultures, and modern realities of Latin America and U.S. Latino communities through interdisciplinary methods. The major and minor curriculum explores Mexico, the Caribbean, and political dynamics within Latino populations in Chicago and across the nation.
Comparative and varied developmental viewpoints highlight connections between nations and peoples across the Americas. Pursuing a major or minor in Latin American and Latino Studies can prepare students for graduate studies, government work, and careers focused on Latin America or U.S. Latino communities.
For the Bachelor of Arts degree, students must complete 33 semester hours as outlined in the following table. Alongside these course requirements, candidates must meet all college criteria to earn the Bachelor of Arts Degree.
First-year applicants are currently enrolled in high school or have not attended college since graduation.
