The Advanced Standing program offers face-to-face, hybrid, and online enrollment options. The face-to-face AS program is a full-time, one-year commitment (38 semester credit hours), starting in fall with coursework and field placements spanning two semesters. Hybrid and online AS students follow a part-time, two-year schedule. All advanced standing students must complete two field practicum courses (500 clock hours). Macro Practice equips students for urban social work, focusing on diverse, underserved populations through professional leadership training. Graduates gain skills for community engagement, organizational work, and societal change, empowering individuals and communities. The curriculum develops core competencies for leadership roles in advocacy, management, program development, research, policy analysis, and capacity building across various levels.
The Health and Behavioral Health Specialization trains students to assess and address interconnected mental health, substance use, and physical health concerns. The program emphasizes understanding health disparities and implementing equitable practices, particularly for marginalized groups. Special attention is given to serving vulnerable populations with complex needs across different practice settings.
