The Face to Face MSW program equips students for careers in clinical or macro social work. Classes are mainly held in person at the University of Houston's main campus, offering two specialized practice areas, four concentration options, and four dual degree opportunities. This full-time program primarily operates during daytime hours and isn't available as an evening-only option. Both Advanced Standing and traditional program paths are offered in the Face to Face format.
The Macro Practice specialization trains future leaders to address urban challenges, empowering diverse and vulnerable populations through community engagement. Graduates develop skills for driving social change across various levels - from local communities to global systems - preparing them for roles as advocates, managers, policy analysts, and organizational leaders in both public and private sectors.
The Individualized Specialization reflects GCSW's dedication to social justice and student flexibility, allowing learners to craft unique focus areas not covered by existing specializations. Students develop customized programs around specific populations, social issues, or practice areas, combining relevant GCSW courses with interdisciplinary offerings to create personalized educational paths.
