To earn a Master of Social Work degree, students can choose from four different pathways. Candidates with standard admission (without a prior bachelor's in social work) must complete 59 graduate-level social work credits, which includes 900 hours of field placement, starting in the fall semester. Full-time students pursuing the standard track can finish in two years, while part-time students typically complete the program in four years. Those holding an accredited undergraduate social work degree (approved by the Council on Social Work Education) may qualify for advanced standing. Advanced standing students generally commence studies in summer, completing 32 graduate social work credits plus 500 field placement hours. Full-time advanced standing students can graduate in one calendar year, while part-time students usually finish in two years.
