This graduate degree focuses on research and is open to all students interested in exploring science education topics, regardless of whether they hold teaching certification. Note that this program does not provide initial certification or enhance existing credentials. The curriculum requires at least 30 graduate credit hours, culminating in a thesis.
The University of Georgia College of Education's science education program prioritizes cutting-edge curriculum design and instructional methods, rigorously following state and national guidelines such as those set by the National Science Teachers Association and Next Generation Science Standards.
Master's candidates will study educational research methodologies, instructional techniques, curriculum development, STEM integration, and specialized science education subjects, alongside advanced coursework in their chosen scientific discipline. With faculty approval, students may enroll in doctoral-level science education classes.
