St. John's University's Master's Degree Program in Adolescent Education prepares graduates for salaried teaching roles in middle and high schools (Grades 7-12). This comprehensive program equips future educators with deep subject matter expertise, teaching methodologies, cultural awareness, and the necessary tools to meet diverse students' academic and social needs. Coursework focuses on cultivating essential competencies to recognize and address learning challenges and behavioral issues. Participants gain hands-on teaching practice with an emphasis on contemporary instructional approaches and comprehensive techniques for designing, delivering, and evaluating lessons for diverse learners. Graduates become eligible for New York State's initial or professional teaching certification in special education, contingent upon passing all required state examinations, completing mandatory training sessions, and fulfilling teaching requirements. The curriculum consists of 48 credit hours.
