The Department of Classics provides Master of Arts programs in Latin, Greek, and classical languages (combining both Latin and Greek). Our graduates have earned multiple competitive scholarships and awards, securing positions in diverse fields such as K-12 education and doctoral programs at top-tier institutions. We've carefully designed our graduate programs to meet the needs of students with different aspirations while effectively supporting their professional growth. The M.A. curriculum establishes a strong foundation in classical studies, focusing particularly on developing language proficiency, historical understanding, archaeological methods, and analytical interpretation. Students join us from across the nation, with typical enrollment of 12-15 during the academic year plus another 12-15 in our Summer Institute - a specialized program enabling high school Latin teachers to complete their M.A. through summer study.
