The Department of Classics provides Master of Arts programs in Latin, Greek, and classical languages, which combine both Latin and Greek studies. Our graduates have earned numerous prestigious scholarships and awards, securing positions in diverse fields such as primary and secondary education, as well as admission to top-tier Ph.D. programs. We've carefully designed our graduate curricula to meet the needs of students with different aspirations while supporting their professional growth. The M.A. curriculum establishes a solid foundation in classical studies, focusing particularly on developing language proficiency, historical knowledge, archaeological methods, and analytical abilities. Students join us from across the nation, with typical enrollment of 12-15 during the academic year plus another 12-15 in our Summer Institute - a specialized program enabling high school Latin teachers to complete their M.A. degree during summer sessions.
