Students with academic passions in arts and humanities that don't align with existing Franklin College of Arts and Sciences majors can opt for a Bachelor of Arts in Interdisciplinary Studies (IDS).
UGA's IDS program demands careful preparation and close collaboration with the program director from the outset. This challenging major isn't intended for undecided students or those with scattered coursework, but rather for individuals with a clearly defined academic vision that fulfills their personal educational goals.
The curriculum requires at least 24 credit hours of thematically connected courses across two or more disciplines, with at least one from Franklin College. Students culminate their studies by writing a 3-credit Senior Thesis on a topic of their choosing.
