UGA's dual degree program combines an A.B. in English with a B.S.Ed. in English Education, equipping students for careers in teaching English.

This program qualifies graduates for Georgia's 6-12 grade teaching certification from the Professional Standards Commission. The curriculum covers diverse subjects like literature, composition, oral communication, and reading. Designed as a cohort model, it combines theoretical learning with practical teaching experience to develop both content mastery and instructional techniques.

Career opportunities extend beyond conventional secondary schools to include vocational institutes, specialized magnet programs, and alternative education settings. Alumni also pursue successful careers in corporate communications, administration, publishing, technical documentation, and other fields requiring strong writing, analytical, and critical thinking abilities.
