The Department of Animal Sciences provides Master of Science programs (both thesis and non-thesis options) along with a Doctor of Philosophy degree. These programs aim to deliver specialized education beyond undergraduate studies. Graduates will gain expertise in research, teaching, and extension services related to animal agriculture, covering key species like beef cattle, dairy cows, poultry, pigs, and horses.
The M.S. program mandates a research initiative totaling at least 30 credit hours, including six dedicated to research (ANS 6971).
While many students finish their master's degree within two and a half years, program length varies based on research progress.
Every candidate must create an academic plan that receives approval from their advisory committee and final endorsement from the graduate coordinator.
