The Latinx Studies, Migration & Transnational Studies (LSMT) specialization integrates multiple academic fields to offer students a comprehensive understanding of the historical context and key sociocultural factors influencing Latinx populations in the U.S. and their diasporic connections throughout Latin America. This interdisciplinary approach examines Latinx experiences and migration patterns holistically, exploring connections between Latinx communities, Latin American heritage, and other marginalized groups in the United States. Particular emphasis is placed on Florida's unique position as a cultural bridge fostering transnational ties with Latin America. Through this specialization, students explore Latinx communities, migration dynamics, and cultural exchanges between the U.S. and Latin America, emphasizing the complex relationships between populations, regional shifts, and worldwide changes.
