The Bachelor of Music (B.M.) in Applied Music prepares students for professional performance careers or academic positions in music education. This specialized program focuses on mastering a principal instrument while fostering scholarly excellence and professional development in music. Admission requires an audition on a primary instrument (including woodwinds, brass, strings, percussion, piano, classical guitar, harp, or voice).
The curriculum features intensive training in music theory, ear training, music history, piano proficiency, and private lessons, supplemented by advanced electives like counterpoint, jazz theory, and specialized seminars. Students expand their musical knowledge through repertoire studies and ensemble work. Performance experience is gained through symphony orchestras, opera productions, chamber groups, competitions, summer programs, and solo recitals.
