MSU's jazz studies program focuses on excellence in performance, instruction, mentorship, and community engagement. Our distinguished faculty consists of world-class jazz professionals who have collaborated with leading artists in the field. Alumni from this program have established successful careers as recording artists and performers, working with notable acts such as Sean Kingston, Ne-Yo, Carlos McKinney, the Spinners, the Count Basie Orchestra, the Cyrus Chestnut Quintet, and the Mulgrew Miller Trio. Program graduates have earned prestigious honors including DownBeat magazine's top college soloist recognition, the Elmhurst Jazz Festival's musician excellence award, and first place in the Aspen Jazz Competition.
