The acquisition and study of genomic sequences holds transformative potential across various sectors of modern society. The Applied Genomics PSM program prepares students for careers in biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, diagnostics, government, and academia by leveraging this fast-evolving field. Through a blend of academic instruction, hands-on lab experience, and internships, students master cutting-edge techniques including next-gen sequencing, bioinformatics, automated liquid handling, and cell culture methods. The program's professional development component features weekly talks by industry experts and alumni from biotech firms, pharma companies, diagnostic labs, and government/academic institutions. These sessions offer career guidance, industry insights, and valuable networking connections. A cornerstone of the curriculum is an intensive three-month internship.

Qualification Requirements

An earned baccalaureate degree
A minimum grade point average of 3.0 in all courses of record. Alternatively, a student may present a grade point average greater than 3.0 for the last two years of undergraduate study coupled with other evidence of competence and accomplishment. Under exceptional circumstances, a student may present an exceptionally strong grade point average for the most recent year's study, along with compelling evidence of potential for success.
A personal statement from the applicant addressing his or her reasons for applying and his or her plans for the future.
Three letters of reference from faculty or others who can address the candidate's potential for success in the graduate program.
If you are not a native speaker of English, you must submit evidence of your proficiency in the English language (TOEFL IBT score).
In addition to Graduate School requirements, the following additional criteria may be used to evaluate students:

Verbal, Quantitative, and Analytical GRE Scores.
Evidence of demonstrated competence in the discipline, including but not limited to undergraduate research experience or field experience, or employment history.
Personal interview by a potential graduate advisor, whenever possible.

Minimum overall scores of 79 (Internet-based test – iBT/ iBT Home Edition), 550 (Old Paper-based test – PBT) or 22/30 on each of the Listening, Reading, and Writing sections (''New'' Paper-based test- PBT) or higher on the TOEFL test. (TOEFL Essentials is not accepted.)
Personal Statement
A minimum overall score of 6.5 or higher on the IELTS Academic Test
A minimum overall score of 53 or higher on the PTE Test.

A cumulative GPA for their most recent degree of 3.0 or higher for the entire degree
