Founded in 2011, Emory University School of Medicine's Genetic Counseling Training Program awards a Master of Medical Sciences in Human Genetics and Genetic Counseling. Graduates become eligible to take the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) certification exam. Our program fulfills educational prerequisites for licensure across all states requiring it. We aim to deliver a cutting-edge, challenging curriculum within a welcoming environment, equipping future genetic counselors to serve patients and communities with expertise, ethics, and empathy.VisionEmory University's Genetic Counseling Training Program will shape students through diverse academic and practical experiences into thoughtful practitioners who lead the field and advocate for fair, responsible implementation of genomic medicine advancements.

Hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university
Register for the Genetic Counseling Admissions Match with National Matching Services (NMS)
Submit transcripts from all institutions of higher education attended
Unofficial transcripts are acceptable, but admitted candidates will be required to send an official transcript prior to matriculation
Candidates should send an updated transcript if grades from Fall courses are not available by the application deadline
Minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale
Exceptions are made on a case-by-case basis. Please contact us for more information.
If more than one college degree is obtained (Bachelor's or beyond), the highest GPA is considered.
Demonstrate successful completion of course prerequisites:

One semester or quarter of psychology
One semester or quarter of statistics
One semester or quarter of biochemistry
