NC State provides two interconnected interdepartmental graduate programs in Genomic Sciences. Students in both Bioinformatics and Functional Genomics will complete a common core curriculum designed to broaden understanding and foster cross-disciplinary teamwork.
Functional Genomics scholars concentrate on lab-based investigations involving the gathering and analysis of extensive datasets to advance comprehension of biological systems, gene activity, molecular structures, and gene-environment relationships. Bioinformatics students acquire expertise in processing and interpreting these complex omics datasets. Graduates from both programs will be equipped to collaborate effectively on critical research challenges spanning biomedical fields, agricultural genetics, evolutionary studies, ecological research, and toxicology.
