The Philosophy graduate program at the University of Connecticut offers students the opportunity to pursue a Master of Arts (M.A.) while working toward a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree. While we do accept students seeking only an M.A., this is uncommon as we primarily admit candidates aiming for the Ph.D. Typically, applicants hold a Bachelor's degree in Philosophy or a related field, completing their M.A. within the initial two years of the Ph.D. program before continuing toward doctoral studies. Those entering with an existing M.A. in Philosophy from another institution may fast-track their Ph.D. progression. Beyond the Graduate School's requirements, our Philosophy program maintains additional criteria outlined below.
