The College of Music faculty designed CU Boulder's DMA programs following the standards set by the National Association of Schools of Music. This advanced degree caters to composers, conductors, and performers who demonstrate both artistic talent and academic prowess. Program alumni pursue careers as professional composers and performers across various genres including solo, chamber, opera, jazz, and orchestral work, or as conductors of choral, jazz, band, and orchestral ensembles. The DMA program especially emphasizes training for teaching positions at colleges, conservatories, and universities. Each student collaborates with an advisor to create a customized degree plan aligned with their individual goals and aspirations.

Qualification Requirements

Hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, or have done work equivalent to that required for such a degree. Show promise of ability to pursue advanced study and research, as judged by the student's scholastic record. Have adequate preparation to enter graduate study in the chosen field. Have at least a 2.75 (2.00=C) undergraduate grade point average. Proof of English proficiency - TOEFL: Ibt -93.
