The Doctor of Musical Arts (DMA) program cultivates well-rounded musicians, focusing on exceptional artistry and academic understanding. Every curriculum prepares students for top-tier careers in performance, instruction, or composition. Typically, the DMA requires at least two years of study beyond a master's degree. The initial year involves full-time residency with a minimum of 9 credits per semester. Students may begin with one summer session before residency. All DMA coursework must be finished within seven years of enrollment.

Qualification Requirements
Complete an audition and interview*. All applicants will have an interview within their major's department or with their audition panel. Applicants to all graduate music education programs will also complete a brief music skills assessment test.
