The University of Cincinnati (UC) provides a distinctive chance to focus and gain expertise through its one-of-a-kind Animal Audiology certificate program. This specialized curriculum caters to both Audiology students and practicing professionals in the field.

Approximately 80 dog breeds are prone to hereditary deafness, while many others develop hearing loss due to aging or environmental noise. The American Kennel Club recommends breeders conduct BAER tests on puppies and record results with the Orthopedic Foundation for Animals. Increasingly, pet owners are requesting hearing evaluations for aging dogs based on veterinary recommendations - applicable to companion animals, service dogs, and military canines alike. While some veterinary neurologists can administer the Brainstem Auditory Evoked Response (BAER) test for animal hearing assessment, they typically lack specialized training in comprehensive diagnostic procedures for audiological evaluations - an area where audiologists possess particular proficiency.
