The University of Cincinnati's Bachelor of Science in Middle Childhood Education equips students to teach grades 4-9 across two subject areas while also training them to serve as special education intervention specialists for K-12 students with mild to moderate needs. This comprehensive dual-licensure program focuses on developing educators capable of supporting diverse student populations.
Our Language Arts and Social Studies concentration within the Middle Childhood Education program trains graduates to design evidence-based curricula, foster effective classroom environments, and address students' academic and personal development needs. Social Studies integrates historical, political, economic, and geographical perspectives to cultivate civic awareness, while Language Arts encompasses literary analysis, informational text comprehension, communication skills, and composition. Graduates specializing in these areas will possess the knowledge and skills to effectively instruct middle school students in both disciplines.
