Collaboration with the Committee isn't restricted by topic. Any rigorous academic pursuit, grounded in the Fundamentals Examination, leading to an original doctoral thesis, and demanding broader interdisciplinary scope than a single department can offer, may qualify. Typically though, the Committee won't admit students unless it can ensure proper mentorship in their chosen specialization, whether through its own faculty or by involving other university experts. The standard Ph.D. program involves four years of full-time study, though completion often spans six to eight years. Additional program information is available through the left-hand menu options.
Applicants to our graduate and professional programs are expected to be enrolled in or to have completed a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent from an accredited college or university. Applicants from a three-year bachelor’s program will be given due consideration. Because all of our programs feature competitive admission, no particular academic degree or background will guarantee admission to one of our graduate divisions.
