The Department of Statistics and Applied Probability provides an MA program in Statistics (alongside a Ph.D. in Statistics and Applied Probability - detailed on a separate page). This program equips students with modern statistical methodologies, focusing on data science techniques and their practical implementation in statistical challenges. To achieve this goal, students specializing in Applied Statistics and Data Science must develop proficiency in statistical computing and engage in hands-on consulting work through Data Lab, our Data Science Consulting Laboratory.
To be considered for admission to UCSB, applicants must have received a bachelor’s degree or its equivalent (with a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better) from an accredited university prior to the quarter for which admission is sought.
TOEFL scores 550 Paper-Based Test (PBT), 80 Internet-Based Test (IBT) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System) Overall Band score of 7 or higher (if applicable).
The deadlines for MA applications are as follows: Fall quarter: February 15; Winter quarter: November 1; Spring quarter: January 10
