The department provides a joint MA program in collaboration with the Economics Department.
Students can earn concurrent MA degrees in economics and statistics by completing 48 credit hours of 7000-level or above courses at the University of Missouri, rather than the standard 52+ credits needed for individual degrees. (Excluded courses include Economics 7351, 7353, and Statistics 7510, 7530, 7710.)
A minimum of 18 credit hours must come from the Economics Department, with at least 15 credits at the 8000-level or higher (maximum four credits of 8090). Required economics courses are 8451, 8453, and research workshop 8413 (3 credits).
Similarly, 18+ credit hours must be completed in Statistics, with 15+ credits at the 8000-level (maximum three credits of 8090). Statistics 7750, 7760, and Mathematics 7140 are mandatory unless equivalent undergraduate coursework was completed.
All degree seekers must present either a thesis or research project showcasing independent work that meets each department's original research standards.
