The Department of History of Art and Architecture equips students for advanced studies that can lead to professions as art and architecture scholars, museum and gallery specialists, or roles in arts management and conservation. The program provides comprehensive degree options covering diverse eras and mediums, from Ancient to Contemporary art, with specialized focus areas in African, Chinese, Islamic, and Latin American art. It particularly excels in early-modern and modern/contemporary art studies, along with architectural and urban history. Many faculty members bring substantial museum experience, theoretical knowledge, and practical skills, coupled with active engagement in theoretical discourse and on-site research, including archaeological excavations.
