The Department of Structural Engineering has designed its programs and curricula to educate engineers through a comprehensive approach to structural systems. This method highlights the shared principles of materials, mechanics, analysis, and design across aerospace, civil, marine, and mechanical engineering disciplines.

Every Structural Engineering program includes significant elements of laboratory experimentation, computational methods, and engineering design. Design is integrated throughout the curriculum via open-ended assignments, lab and computer courses with student-driven projects, and culminating senior design courses where student teams tackle real-world industry challenges. These programs equip bachelor's degree recipients for professional careers or advanced studies in their chosen field. Furthermore, they serve students planning to use their engineering foundation for postgraduate studies in non-technical areas like business, law, or medicine.
