The M.S.-BATS program prepares students to perform rigorous multidisciplinary clinical research, accelerating the translation of scientific discoveries into medical practice. This program caters to diverse learners—medical students, residents, fellows, practicing physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals—who seek to develop clinical research expertise while fostering cross-disciplinary collaboration. The combined M.D./M.S.-BATS pathway merges research training with medical education by enabling simultaneous enrollment in both degree tracks. Participants gain essential skills in clinical research methodologies, including study design for diverse applications, critical evaluation of multidisciplinary literature, research project management, biostatistics, ethical considerations, and leading diverse research teams. Graduates earn an M.S. in Biomedical and Translational Science, with medical students receiving dual degrees: both an M.S.-BATS and an M.D. from the School of Medicine. The M.S.-BATS degree may be awarded either prior to or alongside the M.D. degree upon fulfilling all requirements.
