The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering provides Master of Science programs (with both thesis and non-thesis tracks) along with Doctor of Philosophy degrees. Graduate studies at master's and doctoral levels cover specialized fields such as Structural Engineering and Mechanics, Geotechnical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Transportation Engineering, Coastal Engineering, and Water Resources Engineering.
The department also features an accelerated 4 Plus 1 Master of Engineering (ME) program focused on Water and Environmental studies. Students may transfer up to nine approved credits from prior degrees. The curriculum requires at least 15 credits in Environmental Engineering, Hydrological Engineering, or Hydraulic and Coastal Engineering courses, with a minimum of 12 credits at the 500-level.
Research initiatives focus on employing cutting-edge analytical techniques to address transportation challenges, including safety assessments, urban planning, and transportation infrastructure solutions.
