The transportation engineering specialization focuses on techniques for planning, designing, and managing ground transportation networks. Students collaborate with professors through academic studies and research projects to understand and create solutions for surface transport infrastructure challenges. These solutions employ optimization techniques, simulation approaches, and expert systems. Recently, faculty members have also been involved in developing and assessing smart transportation technologies.

Applicants to the MS programs should have earned a GPA of at least 2.75 on a scale of 4.0 based on the last 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours of undergraduate study
