Statistical research spans from mathematical investigations into theoretical foundations of models and techniques to creating innovative statistical approaches and analyzing their characteristics. Often, this research is driven by partnerships with specialists in specific disciplines. Their scientific inquiries and data gathering may produce intricate datasets that conventional statistical tools cannot properly manage. Statisticians strive to devise techniques that tackle the research questions posed by scientists or policymakers. This requires evaluating how efficiently the proposed methods can be applied and what assurances can be given regarding their effectiveness. These considerations are typically addressed through a blend of mathematical, analytical, and computational methods.
