Probability models form the foundation of numerous statistical inference techniques, requiring thorough knowledge of probability theory to select suitable models. Beyond probability modeling, theoretical statistics aims to extract maximum insights from data. Rice University researchers have advanced probability model comprehension and their use across diverse domains such as finance, population genetics, and biological systems. Their innovations also include developing statistical methods for novel, complex data types emerging in environmental engineering, biomedical studies, and related fields.
