The Neuroscience Graduate Group, among the nation's top-tier training initiatives, delivers an extensive curriculum and exceptional research prospects for earning M.S. and Ph.D. degrees, while also collaborating in combined Physician and Veterinary Scientist Training Programs. With over 80 faculty members from 20 diverse departments across multiple schools—including Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Biological Sciences, Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, and Letters and Sciences—this campus-wide program fosters remarkable interdisciplinary diversity. Students can explore specialized fields spanning molecular, cellular, developmental, systems, behavioral, computational, cognitive, and neurological neuroscience.
Upon enrollment, each student receives guidance from a graduate advisor to navigate program requirements and selects a major professor to mentor their dissertation research. Typically, Ph.D. candidates fulfill coursework and teaching obligations within the first two years, complete preliminary and qualifying exams, and then focus on dissertation work under their major professor's supervision.
