Rooted in ancient China, traditional Chinese medicine has developed over millennia. Practitioners employ herbal remedies, acupuncture, massage techniques, and various therapies to address diverse health concerns. The University of Bridgeport's Acupuncture Institute (UBAI) provides the Doctor of Acupuncture with Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine (DAcTCM) program, delivering advanced education in Chinese herbal treatments, acupuncture techniques, complementary therapies, and biomedical sciences.
As the East Coast's first university-based clinical doctoral program in TCM, our curriculum prepares graduates to deliver comprehensive traditional Chinese medical care and patient evaluations. This includes training for practice in states where TCM practitioners serve as primary healthcare providers.
Bachelor’s degree or its equivalent (120 completed semester hours) from an accredited institution or recognized international institution.
Required cumulative GPA of 2.9 or higher in the science prerequisites.
A minimum score of 80 (IBT); A minimum IELTS Band score of 6.5; A minimum PTE Academic score of 58; A minimum Duolingo English Test score of 95; A grade of “C” or better from an accredited American university for one semester of college English Composition; A minimum score of 19 in the English Section of the ACT Exam; An official letter certifying completion of ELS (English Language Services) Level 112; An official “O” level or “A” level Certificate indicating a grade of “C” or better in English; An EIKEN score of Grade Pre-1 or above; A score of 4 or better on the “English A” Higher Level examination in the International Baccalaureate (IB) program.

We review applications on a rolling basis for a fall start term only. Applicants are strongly encouraged to submit a completed application and all supporting materials by July 15th for priority consideration.
