Explore how peace can transform lives at every level—from individuals to entire nations—by pursuing an MA in Anthropology of Peace and Human Rights. Our alumni build successful careers across diverse fields including legal practice, education, government, global relations, corporate sectors, and media.

UAB has intensified its commitment to peace, justice, human rights, and environmental sustainability, leading to the creation of both our Human Rights Institute and this specialized graduate program. This two-year master's curriculum covers social/cultural anthropology, archaeology, and biological anthropology. You'll collaborate with an academic advisor to select between two degree completion paths. Option 1 (thesis track) involves five electives (15 credit hours) plus six thesis credits—ideal for those planning doctoral studies. Option 2 (non-thesis) requires seven electives (21 credit hours) and successful completion of a comprehensive final examination.
