A solid musical foundation is required for students, including performance expertise on a specific instrument or vocal classification.
Prospective music education majors must successfully complete both an audition and a music fundamentals assessment. To arrange an audition, applicants need to submit a separate application through the School of Music. For applications or additional details, go to music.ua.edu/apply-audition.
Audition periods generally occur from January through early March for fall semester admission. During their initial term after being officially accepted into the School of Music, all students—including transfers—will officially declare their major with guidance from a Music Education advisor.
