This certification program is designed for individuals aspiring to teach in elementary (K-6) or early childhood (P-3) general education classrooms. While classroom experience isn't mandatory, candidates should possess enthusiasm for educational systems and an awareness of state/national policies influencing schools. Graduates earn a Bachelor of Science in Education degree and qualify for Alabama's Class B certification in both Elementary (K-6) and Early Childhood (P-3) education.
The undergraduate catalog is released yearly, while program advising sheets undergo more frequent updates, offering current details on degree requirements. Students should acquire the latest advising sheets from their academic advisors or at 104 Carmichael Hall. Additional guidance on course sequencing is available at 201 Autherine Lucy Hall.
