Accelerate your academic journey by obtaining both a bachelor's and master's degree in just five years through our 41-credit option. This combined program allows you to achieve a BS in Integrated Elementary and Special Education alongside a Master of Education (MEd) in Special Education. The comprehensive curriculum, including summer courses after your fourth year, can be finished within this timeframe.
Our Integrated Elementary and Special Education Program enables dual certification in four years, expanding your professional opportunities. Graduates qualify for elementary education (grades 1-6) and special education (grades K-12) certifications. With intimate class sizes and personalized guidance from our faculty—who maintain strong ties with local schools—you'll gain comprehensive training. This professional teacher preparation program provides deep insights into exceptional learners and their developmental, cognitive, academic, and social requirements. Your learning will encompass structured coursework, independent research, field observations, student teaching, seminars, and practical experiences across both educational settings.
Hands-on clinical experiences form a crucial part of our dedication to helping students apply theoretical knowledge. Supervised classroom practice begins during your first semester in the elementary education track. After successfully completing the program and required assessments, graduates qualify for Connecticut Teacher Certification in both Special Education (Comprehensive K-12) and Elementary Education (1-6).
You can apply if you are currently enrolled in high school or secondary school, or if you have completed high school or secondary school, but have not started a degree.
You will be required to present the following results: 2.75 (out of 4.0); 3.75 (out of 5.0); 80% (out of 100); 70% (out of 100) India/Canada.
