The master's program offers comprehensive philosophical training while allowing students to pursue studies in a related minor field. Students have two completion options: either complete 24 graduate credit hours plus a 6-credit thesis, or finish 33 graduate credit hours followed by an oral defense of a major research paper. With departmental approval, up to 9 credit hours (one-third of total coursework) may be taken in non-philosophy graduate courses. Interested applicants should reach out to both the Philosophy Department and Graduate School for admission details. While the program welcomes students from diverse academic backgrounds, some may need to complete foundational philosophy coursework during their initial year.
