Students majoring in Human Development and Family Sciences gain qualifications for professions supporting individuals and families throughout life stages. Career paths include child life specialists, early childhood interventionists, preschool teachers, activity directors at senior living facilities and children's museums, parenting instructors, child welfare caseworkers, adoption program coordinators, and positions with various human service organizations (nonprofit, faith-based, or secular). The curriculum offers specialized tracks such as: Child Services and Administration (nonprofit sector), Child Life (healthcare environments), Early Childhood Education, Pre-Marriage and Family Therapy (graduate preparation), or Research and Analytics (advanced study). The program also accommodates those pursuing secondary education certification. For courses involving interaction at the Child Development Center, participants must complete criminal background checks and submit documentation of yearly tuberculosis screening.
