The Bachelor of Science in Human Development and Community Engagement is a four-year undergraduate program administered by the College of Education, Criminal Justice, Human Services, and Information Technology. This program enables students to partner with urban initiatives and nonprofit organizations that drive social transformation and promote inclusive practices for individuals, families, and neighborhoods.
Participants develop both theoretical knowledge and hands-on expertise, equipping them with relevant competencies to support marginalized groups through nonprofit or government organizations. The curriculum also focuses on cognitive development, socioeconomic factors, and emotional intelligence across the lifespan, from early childhood to mature adulthood.
Through diverse program requirements, students learn multiple approaches to facilitate personal and societal transformation. Coursework encompasses key areas including interpersonal communication, instructional design, developmental psychology, program assessment, and urban community dynamics.
