Researchers specializing in Crime, Law, and Deviance examine: 1) the impact of sociocultural systems and transformations on social control mechanisms and societal perceptions of crime and deviance, 2) how criminal and deviant behaviors shape sociocultural structures and operations, and 3) the influence of social statuses and identities (including those evolving throughout life stages) on criminal and deviant conduct. Each core concept—Crime, Law, or Deviance—possesses its own academic discourse, as does their convergence in fields like Criminology, Criminal Justice, and Social Justice.
The ten faculty members focusing on this specialization pursue diverse research agendas. They employ various methodologies, including qualitative, quantitative, and mixed-method approaches, to address pressing societal issues.
