Launched in fall 1975, the Social Welfare PhD Program grants Doctor of Philosophy degrees. This curriculum trains future leaders who will expand knowledge within the profession and related interdisciplinary fields. Participants develop comprehensive expertise in both content and methods, enabling them to produce theoretical frameworks and research findings that enhance social work practice and further social welfare scholarship, ultimately fostering social justice. Most alumni pursue careers in academia and research.
