The Bachelor of Arts in Modern Languages (MODL) fosters and strengthens students' global awareness and intercultural skills. Learners can select French, German, or Russian as their primary focus. The curriculum provides in-depth exploration of these languages, their literary traditions, societal developments, and cultural contexts.
By integrating language proficiency with complementary academic disciplines, the program effectively prepares graduates for professional opportunities across business, public service, higher education, and non-profit organizations. Those pursuing teaching careers can obtain certification through the School of Education and Human Development.
Beyond classroom instruction, the department facilitates summer study abroad opportunities for academic credit. Faculty advisors collaborate with students to identify suitable semester or year-long international programs aligned with their academic goals.
All participants must fulfill 100- and 200-level course requirements either through coursework or placement examination. Credit cannot be awarded for prerequisite courses once a student has completed more advanced language classes.
