The Fibers and Materials Studies program at Tyler School of Art and Architecture is a 60-credit, two-year M.F.A. program that challenges students to hone their artistic vision while exploring materials through the lens of contemporary global concerns. Guided by a distinguished, diverse faculty and visiting artists at the forefront of creative innovation and critical discourse, students thrive in a supportive, inclusive setting designed for bold experimentation, cross-disciplinary partnerships, and self-directed learning. With full access to Tyler's advanced facilities and Temple University's extensive research resources as a major public institution, students develop their research-driven ideas. M.F.A. candidates in Fibers and Materials Studies also engage in school-wide initiatives like Tyler's Natural Dye Garden while tapping into Philadelphia's rich urban fabric and grassroots art community to pursue collaborative projects, investigate sociopolitical themes, and explore the interplay between materials, techniques, and conceptual frameworks.
