The Mathematics Ph.D. program equips students for professional paths requiring sophisticated mathematical expertise. Career opportunities span diverse fields including academic research, corporate sectors, governmental agencies, educational institutions, and national research facilities. For incoming students, the curriculum combines foundational coursework with research experiences designed to bridge the gap between undergraduate and graduate-level mathematics. The program builds core mathematical competencies while fostering intellectual growth among early-stage graduate students. Students demonstrating sufficient mathematical maturity may bypass introductory courses. Our department prioritizes active mentorship, nurturing students' professional development as future leaders in mathematics-intensive fields. We pride ourselves on our supportive academic community, with faculty members who maintain open-door policies for mathematical discussions. This collaborative culture sets our graduate program apart from others in the field. While maintaining rigorous standards, we cultivate an environment conducive to academic excellence.

Pursue advanced studies in both theoretical and applied mathematics through Temple University's College of Science and Technology Mathematics Ph.D. program. This doctoral degree develops independent research capabilities while preparing graduates for leadership roles in academia, industry, or research administration. The program's comprehensive curriculum establishes the theoretical framework essential for specialized research in your chosen mathematical discipline. Regular departmental seminars and colloquia—many tailored for graduate students—provide exposure to cutting-edge global mathematical research. Classroom experiences simultaneously refine your abilities in mathematical communication, research presentation, and instructional methods.

Bachelor's Degree in Discipline/Related Discipline: All applicants must hold a baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university.

Statement of Goals: Describe your strengths and motivation, the purpose for applying to a graduate program in mathematics, and why you are interested in the intended degree. This forum should be used to make your strongest case for admission and, thus, should be well written.

Standardized Test Scores:
GRE General Test or GRE Subject Test in Mathematics: Reporting GRE scores is not required. If reported, note that rigid minimum score criteria are not set. The department considers an applicant's overall record. Students who wish to discuss their scores are encouraged to contact the department directly.
