Harvard School of Engineering's Applied Mathematics program is a cross-disciplinary area dedicated to developing and creatively applying mathematical principles to address challenges across physical sciences, biomedical research, engineering, and increasingly, social sciences and humanities.
Through both independent work and university-wide collaborations, Applied Mathematics scholars work to analyze, predict, design, and manage diverse phenomena. Their research explores connections between theoretical models and real-world observations while investigating the mathematical underpinnings and boundaries of these approaches.
Ranked among Harvard's five most popular majors, Applied Mathematics attracts students with its adaptable approach to applying mathematical concepts to interdisciplinary problems while maintaining strong connections to the empirical evidence that shapes these inquiries.
Students with bachelor’s degrees in the natural sciences, mathematics, or engineering are invited to apply for admission.
